Therapy for Teens in Houma, LA
being a teenager is hard.
You’ve tried everything you can think of to help your teen, but nothing’s working.
Even if you have a great relationship with your teenager, there are some things that teens just won’t feel comfortable sharing with their parents. It’s rarely just one thing that is causing a disruption to their lives. Working in a high school for the last 13 years has taught me that teens are under a great deal of stress and pressure. Whether it’s issues with their peers, academic struggles, a lack of confidence, adjusting to change, or past trauma, teenagers don’t automatically know how to cope in healthy ways. I will help your teen learn how to take control of their thinking, process their emotions, and change their behaviors so that they can live a healthy, happy life.
Do You see your teenager feeling…
Frustrated that no one seems to understand them.
Disconnected from their family and friends.
Overwhelmed with life.
Therapy can help teens in so many ways.
I offer teens the space to be be exactly who they are. They will receive my undivided attention throughout each 50-60 minute session to discuss their thoughts, feelings, and choices. It’s my goal to help your teen learn the connection between how their thinking affects how they feel and the choices they make.
-
We will explore how your teen thinks and how they are affected by their thoughts. I will teach them how to take control of their thinking so they can think more positively about their life.
-
Teens tend to live by their emotions more than any other age group. Your teen will learn how to identify and process their emotions without getting stuck in them.
-
The choices we make have an effect on how we think and how we feel. I will help your teen identify what isn’t working for them and how to make changes that help them to feel better.
At the end of the day, I want you to know:
Your teen wants to feel heard and supported. I will listen and help guide them through this time in their lives.
Your involvement in therapy is vital to helping your teen:
You will be asked to take an active role in your teen’s therapy by…
Communicating with me before each session to provide any information and updates that I should know to be able to best support your teen.
Meeting individually with me from time to time to discuss your relationship with your teen and any changes that they would benefit from outside of the therapy office.
Encouraging your teen to practice what is discussed in sessions to help them reach their goals.
Respecting your teen’s privacy in sessions. It’s imperative that your teen learn that they can trust me. At the first session, we will discuss confidentiality further.
What we’ll work on
Every teen can benefit from…
Improving communication skills by learning to express more than “ok, good, and fine.”
Learning how to cope with the difficulties of life.
No longer feeling alone and misunderstood.
Gaining control over their thoughts, feelings, and choices.
